张启发,华中农业大学教授,作物遗传育种和植物分子生物学家,中国科学院院士,美国科学院外籍院士,第三世界科学院院士。1953年12月生于湖北省公安县。1976年华中农学院毕业后留校任教,1985年美国加利福尼亚大学戴维斯分校获得遗传学博士学位,其后于该校从事博士后研究一年。1986年回国,历任华中农业大学讲师、副教授、教授、博士生导师。1994-2013年任生命科学技术学院院长,现任作物遗传改良国家重点实验室主任、国家农作物分子技术育种中心主任、国家植物基因研究中心(武汉)主任,兼任教育部国家生命科学与技术人才培养基地建设指导委员会主任委员,以及《Theoretical and Applied Genetics》、《Current Opinion in Plant Biology》、《BMC Genomics》、《Annual Review of Plant Biology》等国际重要学术刊物的编委。 主要研究领域为植物基因组、重要基因的分离克隆、杂种优势的遗传和分子基础、作物品种资源的分析与基因发掘、应用生物技术进行作物改良,形成了独自的体系和特色。主持国内外各类重大科研课题60余项。研究成果在Science、Nature Genetics、Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences、Nature Biotechnology、The Plant Journal、Genetics、Theoretical and Applied Genetics、Molecular Genetics and Genomics 、中国科学等杂志上发表论文200余篇,在国际学术会议作大会报告和特邀报告70余次。获得授权发明专利34项。1993获瑞典国王Baudouin奖,1994年获国家有突出贡献的中青年专家称号,1998年获中国青年科学家奖,1999年被聘为教育部“长江学者奖励计划”首批特聘教授,2003年获何梁何利科学与技术进步奖,2005年获加利福尼亚大学戴维斯分校杰出校友奖,2008年获湖北省科学技术突出贡献奖,2012年获国际作物科学学会杰出科学家奖。
